RIL's work in Iraq and Uganda highlight in DIIS's COVID-19 Report

The Danish Institue for International Studies (DIIS) produced a report in November 2020 titled “Covid-19 and the future of innovation and technology in global development.” The Response Innovation Lab’s both in Iraq and Uganda were highlighted.

The report looks at the impact of Covid-19ion in three areas:

  1. sexual and reproductive health and rights and sexual- and gender-based violence

  2. refugees, migrants and IDPs

  3. food security

Here is a highlight of the findings: “Though global infection rates have remained lower for women than for men, the systemic effects on reproductive healthcare and gender-based violence have been profound. For refugees, migrants and IDPs, the economic impact has greatly limited traditional pathways to employment and education. And border closures and supply chain disruptions caused by the pandemic have pushed more vulnerable populations into food insecurity.”
