Implemented preventive measures during food assistance in Rhino and Yumbe, and developed a touch-free hand washing facility

YSAT has led community mobilization and sensitization for general food assistance projects with the World Food Programme to minimize the risk of contracting COVID-19 during food distribution for community members, staff, and partners. YSAT invented a touch-free foot-operated hand-washing facility to facilitate regular handwashing practices that are safe for all.

The Innovative Facility is made up of a frame with 2 pedals, 2 water containers of 50 and 10 Litres, and Soap on the side. It can use both liquids and bar soap depending on the need and context. YSAT produced and distributed over 45 Foot-operated Hand Washing Facilities that were distributed to 11 Food Distribution Points, 7 health centers, 2 reception centers, 7 community centers, Arua Regional Referral Hospital, and 7 Market Centres thus reaching over 95,000 people. This technology has strengthened the COVID-19 Response in Yumbe and Rhino settlements.
