Improving accessibility to quality and affordable clean energy solutions & maintenance

Partners: CARE, African Clean Energy (ACE), Kabarole Research and Resource Centre (KRC)

Goal: This pilot will promote solar powered energy efficient stoves in Kyangwali Refugee Settlement. Through improving accessibility for refugees to quality and affordable clean energy solutions & maintenance. The incorporation of clean fuel within this solution makes it unique. While local firewood is in depletion, there remains a lot of underutilized biomass agricultural waste being produced by the large numbers of farmers in the area. The innovative briquetting program will create an opportunity for these farming cooperatives to use their waste product for profit, generating income and mitigating deforestation while making affordable fuel accessible to refugees.
