KAINO is an EdTech solution that dispenses science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) blended teacher guides through web and mobile apps but during COVID-19 pandemic it was used offline and in-person to train nursery teachers and parents.
The KAINOafrica team took the national curriculum developed by the National Curriculum Development center and infused it with STEM for better stimulation and literacy of children. They crafted easy-to-use lesson guides that any nursery teacher or parent could use to deliver lessons to their children. Their model for rural areas involved the KAINO teacher training team going to physically train teachers and parents in different village communities so as to replicate their model in these communities. Even after they left, the communities would continue the training of children among themselves. KAINOafrica has tested this model in Kasokoso, a slum in Kampala and in Katandi, a village in Tororo district.
